Wonderful decor for your home.

There is nothing you treasure more than your home.  Having a framed canvas painting of your esteemed estate is a win win proposition. Rick and Sue Boucher are thrilled with their new painting and will proudly hang it over the fireplace mantle.  All year long thru all kind of weather they will be able to enjoy viewing their home.

Home landscape paintings make wonderful decor and gifts.

Combining two favorite pictures to make a new painting.

Combining two favorite pictures to make a new painting.

I frequently get asked to create a painting by combining two separate pictures. Painting digitally makes the process not that difficult. Here is an example of a commission I did for a customer who had an old photo of a beloved antique car. He also loved my painting of the Highland Lighthouse that is located in North Truro, Mass. He was very excited to hang this as he no longer had the car. I am always trying to create new paintings that appeal to my clients.

A week on McMillans Wharf, Provincetown, Mass.

Hoping for fair weather and some sales. I will be set up in the Artist Trap Shed from June 20-27. Provincetown Portuguese Festival will be in full swing. Lots of traditional old world costumes and music and dancing. Will be wonderful. Great weekend to visit Cape Cod, Mass.

The Day – Lincoln artists cry foul | News from southeastern Connecticut

The Day – Lincoln artists cry foul | News from southeastern Connecticut.

Here is an update on the contest I entered two weeks ago.  Due to lack of planning and space, 33 paintings were cut, mine included. I will have the opportunity to show in a quickly thrown together show for all the “orphaned” paintings. Iam reallylooking forward to this event.  Major bad feelings from the rejected artists as they were all told that they paintings would be in the show the night of the award giving.  So much work and money was spent by all artists.

Abe Lincoln Painting Contest, Norwich, CT

I am excited to have entered in a Norwich, Ct contest to replicate a stolen artwork painted in 1865 by John Dennison Crocker. The guidelines were to make an exact oil replica. My finished hand painted digital oil is now waiting to be judged with all the other 62 entrants. My hope is to be included in the show that will display the winner and some of the runner ups. I am pleased to say that my canvas looked as good if not better than some of the oils that I saw. Sad to say that there is bias in regards to computer art. It took me four months of hard work to finish the 39×50 image that Millhouse Graphics printed for me on canvas. My years of digital painting really shows in what I consider to be my masterpiece thus far. Considering that there was only one very poor photograph of the painting to copy from. I hope to be able to update this post with news of my being in the show.

Barack Obama Pop Art

Giglee print on canvas or linen

Giglee print on canvas or linen

I have been busy with the holidays and am finally getting around to checking out my blog.  No excuses. I am here now and still really like that song that I have playing. Makes me think of the Cape a lot.

The election of our new president has everyone running to the printing press and I am no exception.  Here is my recent Pop rendition of Obama.  I am hoping to sell a copy or two but who knows.  There are a lot of posters out there already.  Contact me if you would like one for yourself. They sell for $100 for the linen and $130  for the gallery wrapped canvas 16×20.

You can see it better at my other web site over at Fine Art America.

Painted Dog Portraits

Painted Labrador Retrievers PortraitOriginal shotsI have just completed a commission for a special client and want to share the finished product and the process that was employed to create it. My client has three Labradors and wanted to include the now deceased father in the 26×16 painting.  There was no picture with all the dogs together so we found separate photos to use as reference and combined them with shots of the view from their home. They were very happy with the finished painting.

weston_8x8-final.jpgMy family has grown by one. A tiny baby boy pug has come to live with us.  The four cats are not thrilled but they respect his baby ways and have not attacked him and he just is amazed by them. We all love him and look forward to many years of happy memories.
